Adapting your vehicle

Support and expertise

If you have problems driving a vehicle with standard controls due to a disability or illness, we can assess your needs and recommend vehicle adaptations which can help you return to driving.  We have a modern, well-equipped workshop and a team of fully-qualified technicians who undertake regular specialist training and development.

They can also service or repair your vehicle adaptations and other mobility equipment. Our centre is fully accredited to Motability and Driving Mobility.

Identifying your needs

Our friendly team of specialist assessors can help identify your needs and check if you can drive your vehicle safely.

They can then help you to find a solution that best suits you and you can try out adaptations in one of our specially adapted cars or try a mobility scooter or wheelchair.

If you have already been assessed and have been using adaptations and you want to transfer these adaptations to another vehicle, we can arrange to do this for you.

Finding solutions

We can fit suitable equipment that makes driving independently possible for you.

This could range from  ‘basic’ pedal extensions, seat modifications or more specialist adaptations that enable driving by hand operated controls.

If you have problems loading or unloading your mobility scooter or wheelchair into or out of your vehicle, we can offer advice and fit suitable equipment to enable you to do this more easliy. We also carry out LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998) weight tests for organisations whose employees use patient hoists or tail lifts fitted to vehicles.

You are welcome to try out our vehicles fitted with driving adaptations, wheelchair and scooter hoists or modified seating.
